W. C. Smith, 67, Dies; Rites Set

William C. Smith, 67, of 3140 S. E. Fourteenth st., died Monday at Broadlawns Polk County Hospital of complications of surgery. He had been ill a month.

Mr. Smith had lived in Des Moines 37 years and was an automobile salesman prior to retirement in 1959.

He is survived by a son, William C. Smith, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Michael Gasperi, Mason City; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild and two brothers, Joseph Smith, Dexter, and A. C. Smith, Van Meter.

Services will be held at 11:15 a. m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s in the Irish Settlement cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p. m. today at Caldwell-Brien Funeral Home.
