Earl W. Miller was born February 17, 1886 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Joel and Harriet Clark Miller. He came to Iowa with his parents as a small child. His mother passed away when he was 18 months old and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark of Truro reared him in their home, giving him religious training. There he attended the Truro schools, church and Sunday school, and was a member of the Truro Methodist church.

When he was 14 years of age he lived in the home of Dean and Anna Reed, a cousin, who cared for him until he was old enough to make his own living in the world.

He was married to Miss Daisy L. Benbow of Osceola, October 25, 1915. They made their home in Des Moines, where they lived forty years, moving back to Osceola in 1955.

Mr. Miller retired in 1954, from the Des Moines schools, after being in their employment for 26 years. He was a man of good character, standing for things that were right and his word was as good as gold. No children were born of this union, but he loved children very dearly.

His father, mother and five brothers preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He passed away at the Clarke County Hospital December 14, 1967. Services were held Saturday, December 16 from the Webster Funeral Home with Rev. John McCallum conducting the 1:30 p.m. rites. Interment was in Fremont cemetery, Clarke county.
