Ella Gibson Dies March 7

Services for Ella Fern Gibson, 80, of Osceola, who died Tuesday, March 7, 1989 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, will be held Friday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. The Rev. Clifford Haider of Osceola will officiate, with burial in St. Charles Cemetery.

Mrs. Gibson was born January 2, 1909 at Fontanelle, the daughter of William Cole and Emma Cue. She attended school at Leon. She married William Armstrong November 11, 1925 and 10 children were born to this union. She married Creede Gibson April 7, 1976.

She lived in Osceola for 13 years and prior to that had lived in Indianola and St. Charles.

She was a member of the Methodist Church at St. Charles.

Survivors include her husband, Creede Gibson of Osceola; daughters, Dorothy McClure of Marshalltown, Hattie O’Brian and husband, Bernard of Kansas City, Kansas, Fern Lymon and husband, Ike of San Fernando, California, Beulah Veasman and husband, Paul of Indianola, Shirley Addy and husband, Eugene of Marshalltown, Bonnie Northcutt and husband, Rick of Newton and Janet Strable and husband, Don of St. Charles; sons, Robert Armstrong and wife, Gladys of Portland, Oregon and William Armstrong and wife, Connie of Berryville, Arkansas; 33 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; step-daughter, Alma McMillen of Schiller Park, Illinois; eight step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren; and one brother, Melvin Cole of Hemet, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William Armstrong in 1957; one son, Harley Armstrong; one grandson, Mike Campbell; two brothers, Scott and Bill Cole; five sisters, Vera Reed, Minnie Garrison, Hazel Faux, Zelma Consolver and Marie Kaylor.
