Zachary Short, Arizona

Zachary “Zac” Short, 27, of Arizona died unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, surrounded by family at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, Ariz.

A funeral mass and Celebration of Life were held on Saturday, Feb. 24 in Joliet, Ill. A memorial fund has been set up in Zac’s name at BMO Harris Bank.

Zachary A. Short was born in Phoenix, Ariz., on June 18, 1990, to Richard and Judith (nee Austin) Short, he moved to Illinois with his family in 1997, and graduated from Minooka Community High School in 2008. After high school he returned to the place of his birth to attend Arizona State University, where he studied in the digital culture program in the School of Arts, Media and Engineering. In addition to his passion for digital media, he co-founded and operated an apparel printing business, and worked in various capacities in the restaurant industry.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Willard J. Short, William E. Austin Jr. and Geraldine A. Austin; and his uncle, Steven Allmandinger.

He is survived by his parents, Richard and Judith, and his brother, Alexander, all of Shorewood, Ill.; his grandmother, Eva M. Short of Winterset; many other family members and friends.
