Lawrence Cumings, 84, of Altoona Manor Care Center, 200 Seventh Ave. S.W., died of a heart attack Friday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dunn’s Funeral Home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Cumings was born in Madison County and had lived in Altoona most of his life. He was a retired inspector for John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny and attended Winterset Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons Donald of Des Moines, Robert of Altoona and Lawrence of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Mayola Guess of Mission, Texas; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
