Mrs. See had been ill for many weeks.

Emma Maybelle Emerson, the sixth child of Winthrop and Elizabeth Emerson was born in Madison county, Iowa, March 1st., 1861 and departed this life at her home near Osceola, July 20, 1934, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 19 days.

She grew to womanhood in Madison and Decatur counties.

She was united in marriage to John Harvey See, August 9, 1877 at Leon, Iowa. To this union were born seven children: Minnie E. Brewer, Sharpsburg, Iowa; Laura E. Myers, Kansas City, Mo.; Ethel E. Collins, Washington, D. C.; Ralph H. See, Livingston, Mont.; Ross E. See, Kenneth E. See and Louise S. Schmitt, of Osceola.

At the age of 16 she united with the Seventh Day Adventist church and was baptized at Woodburn, Iowa, and later her membership was transferred to Osceola, Iowa. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, one son, Ross E. See, having served in the World war.

She leaves to mourn the husband, 7 children, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. W. H. See of Peru, Iowa, Mrs. Ella Jones and Mrs. Cora Cone of Long Beach, Calif., two brothers, Burton Emerson of Glendale, Calif., and Oscar Emerson of Cortland, Kansas. Four sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

She has been a resident of Clarke county for over 30 years. She has been in failing health for the past 3 ½ years. She fell Nov. 23rd and fractured her hip and has been confined to her bed since that time. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and a very patient sufferer in her long illness. All the children were present at her bedside except one daughter, Ethel E. Collins, who composed the following in her memory:

“Our family circle is broken, You were the first to go. But we trust in the Great Commander, and feel that He willed it so. Our hearts are made sad by this parting. And the days that shall come and go by. Will only refresh our memory, Of your earnest efforts in life. Dear Mother, your life was so noble. Your outstanding character true. We cherish every small memory. That turns our thoughts back to you. Since you have passed from our circle. It is left like a broken chain. With one of the main links missing. It must always unbroken remain. We pause as it were but a moment. For the one last farewell to say. And commit you unto the Savior. For His is the better way.”

Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. W. H. See, Mr. and Mrs. B. E.
