Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Hiatt received word of the death of their sister-in-law, Mrs. Catherine Hiatt, 75 of Glendale, Calif., Mar. 10. Mrs. Hiatt a native New Yorker came to Madison county as a teacher, where she taught in the Winterset school 8 years and married Ernest Hiatt. They moved to California in 1926. She is survived by one son Spencer of La Crescenta, Calif., and a grandson.

FORMER WINTERSET TEACHER DIES

Mrs. Catherine Hiatt, a former teacher in the Winterset schools, died March 10 in Glendale, Calif., according to word received here this week.

Mrs. Hiatt was the former Catherine Spencer, and was a teacher at Winterset for eight years. She was married here to E. B. Hiatt, who was Madison county engineer. They moved to California in 1926.

Mrs. Hiatt was 75 years of age at her death. Her husband preceded her in death, and one son, William Hiatt, was killed in action in the Korean war. She is survived by a son Spencer Hiatt, of La Crescenta, California, and by two grandsons.
