Loma Marie was born November 29, 1902 at DeSoto, Iowa to Phillip and Osa Ola (Bond) Harkins and passed away April 3, 1989 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. She had suffered a massive stroke on March 10.

She moved to Menlo and received her schooling there. Most of her life was spent in the Menlo community.

On January 15, 1923 she married Francis Miller at Audubon, Iowa and four children were born to this union.

Lomie enjoyed crocheting and made many beautiful pieces. Her outside flowers proved she had a green thumb. Lomie’s children and grandchildren were a great joy to her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers Homer and Frank; a sister Florence, and her husband Francis.

Surviving are her two sons, Keith and wife Pat of Stuart and Virgil Dean and wife Lolabelle of Fontanelle; two daughters, Marjorie Gomez and husband Elias of Earlham and Doris Strauser and husband Carl of Stuart; 25 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; two brothers, Nile and Glenn of Guthrie Center; a sister, Opal Eichor of Casey, other relatives and friends.

Rev. Ed Sinclair officiated at the funeral service on April 7, 1989 at the United Methodist Church in Menlo. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Reese Law. Caring for the floral tributes were Mrs. Winfield Coffman and Mrs. Thelma Starr. Casket bearers were Charles Varley, Jack Norris, Joe Lamb, Marvin Ludwig, Loren Squires and Jim Watson. Interment was in Rosehill Cemetery, Menlo, Iowa.
