Unknown Source - Biography for William Van Buren Shields

William Van Buren was born in Aquawha, Henderson County, Illinois and when but a baby the family migrated to Madison County, Iowa and stayed that a short time until they moved on to Kansas, stayed there a few years, and again returned to Madison County and settle on the farm where Eva was born and where they resided until their deaths.

This farm was in the SW quarter, section 17, Township 76, North Range 29, Jackson Township, Madison County, Iowa.

Eva and her husband, Jerome Estel and William are buried in the same lot just south of the Shields stone, and the Roberts Cemetery, Adair County, Iowa.

In the courthouse in Aquawha, Henderson County, Illinois, where Creed and Mariah were married, the same day Creed's brother, James A. married Mariah's sister Sarah A. in a double wedding.

There were a number of other Shields that were in the courthouse record of marriages, that were of about the same age that could have been related.

Michael Shields married Melissa E. Sappington on February 25, 1860.
Van Buren Shields married Malvina McDonald on October 29, 1865.
Emory Shields married Frances E. Bender on February 5, 1873.
