John Robinson Throckmorton, son of Morford and Agnes Throckmorton, was born near Jacktown in Rich Hill township, Penn., July 18, 1850, and died at his home near Derby, Iowa, on October 17, 1931, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 29 days.

He came with his parents to Iowa in the spring of 1854, and settled on land owned by Morford Throckmorton senior. Here he lived with his parents until his father died May 15, 1863, at the age of 40 years. John, the eldest of the family, was twelve years old at this time. The other members of this family were Isaac Newton, William Charles, Rebecca and Sarah. All but Newton have passed to their reward.

On February 5, 1874 he was joined in marriage to Louisiana Callon near Derby. They commenced home life on the farm now owned by the family. Here he spent his entire life, except for two years they spent in Kansas.

He leaves to mourn their loss his aged wife and seven children, Mary Frances Storie, of Derby; Nancy Anna Nelson, of Williamson; John Frederick, of Derby; Ada Pearcy, of Humeston; Daisy Lowe, of Derby; William Benjamin and Adam Riley, still at home in Derby. Four children preceded him in death. He is also survived by thirty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

John was the oldest living Throckmorton in Lucas county. Eight years ago he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Funeral services were held in Derby Monday afternoon, October 19, at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church, conducted by Mr. J. S. Throckmorton and interment was made in the Derby cemetery.
