David Gregory was born in Morgan county, Indiana March 12, 1820; came to Iowa in 1840 and made this county his home until year or so ago, when he moved with his son, Grant Gregory to Burlington. With them he started overland for New Mexico a few weeks since, but died when they reached Paris, Missouri on Thursday, October 25, 1906. The body was brought back to his old home for burial; funeral on Saturday, October 27 1906. Mr. Gregory was a resident of Morning Sun township for nearly sixty-five years as he spent on or two years in California. He was married twice; his second wife being Miss Mary Umphrey, daughter of the late James Umphrey, of the same township. three children survive him, Mrs. George L. ?, Grant and James Gregory. Besides his children he leaves on brother, three years his senior and several half brothers and sisters.
