Eliza Dunn Shaughnessy was born in County Longford, Ireland, December 25, 1830; came to America in 1846, settling first in the state of New York. Here she was married to Timothy Shaughnessy, coming with him to Muscatine, Iowa in 1855 and to Fredonia a year later. This continued her home until about a year ago when she went to make her home with her son, William, in Des Moines county, at which place she died near midnight of October29. The body was brought to this place for burial, the interment occurring at the Fredonia cemetery, Thursday, November 1. Her funeral services will be preached at the Catholic church this place, the third Sunday on this month. She leaves another son, John, who lives in Fredonia. Mrs. Shaughnessy was at one time owner and operator of the Fredonia Ferry.
