Miss Nellie Reeder died very suddenly at the Columbus hotel on Tuesday morning between 2 and 3 o'clock. She had been first cook at that hotel for several months and worked in the kitchen until about 8:30. She was not feeling very well went to her room and prepared to retire. A little later some of the girls who roomed across the hall heard a noise in her room and went to the door and found it locked. The lock was finally picked and Miss Reeder was found lying on the floor unconscious. She was laid on the bed and Dr. Hubbard was summoned. He did what he could for her and later went back again to see her and it was thought she would be better in the morning, but she passed away as noted, without having regain consciousness. She was born in Texas thirty-three years ago and when two and a half years of age was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Jas. W. Reeder who then lived in Kansas and who now live south of Fredonia. They were heart broken over the sudden and unexpected death of Nellie, who had always been the same to them as one of their own children, of whom they have had several. She was taken to their home Tuesday afternoon and the funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment at Indian Creek cemetery. Nellie was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and had won the respect of all who became acquainted with her.
