After more than two years of ailing, death finally came to the relief of S. H. Shearer, Monday last. His death occurred at eleven o'clock in the morning. Mr. Shearer was born in York County, Pennsylvania, only a little more was united in marriage to Elizabeth Evans, an with her came to Iowa in 1856, settling in Columbus City and commencing business as a shoemaker. He remained there until 1876, when he removed to Columbus Junction. In October, 1891, he suffered from an apoplectic stroke, and though he rallied for a while he was never himself again and his health was in general state of decline from that on. Mr. and Mrs. Shearer have had born to them nine children, seven sons and two daughters. Of these, six sons survive the father. These are Martin and Sylvester, of Abeline, Kansas; Adam, of the same state; A. W. and Clarence of Winfield; and Garrett, of Princeton, Missouri. Three brothers, Martin H., of Lettsville; Amos H., of York, Pennsylvania and Jacob H, of Schanch, Ohio, are still alive. The funeral occurs this Wednesday afternoon from the reformed church at 2 o'clock. The services will be conducted by Rev. D. S. Fouse, of Lisbon, assisted by the Rev. D. H. Fouse of this place.
