The News-Herald, Thursday March 17, 1904

After a brief sickness at her home in Morning Sun, Mrs. C. DeDong passed to her home in heaven March 10, 1904. [spelled as written]

She was born in Ireland, May 12, 1832. Her maiden name was Belle Longwell. She came to this country when she was four years of age and settled in Pennsylvania with her parents. At the age of sixteen she united with Mingo Presbyterian church of Washington county, PA.

She was married at Buena Vista, Pa. October 19, 1892, to C. DeLong of Morning sun, Iowa. Sher husband died in 1897.

Mrs. DeLong lived a quiet and devoted Christian life. She was loyal to her church and found great pleasure in all of its services. She was very grateful for the least service, and this characteristic showed itself particularly in her late sickness.

She was very fond of the grandchildren (on her husband’s side) and took great delight in their singing.

In respect to her memory and kindness the grandchildren, Margery and Robert Morrison and Raymond Delong, sang a beautiful hymn at the funeral.

The funeral service were held at her late home Friday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Wm. Mackay. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
