Mrs. Bretz, 89, Columbus City, Taken in Death

Columbus Junction – Mrs. William Bretz, 89, one of the oldest residents of this community, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday. The former Miss Jane Cutkomp, she was born April 16, 1852 near Columbus Junction, and was married to William Bretz who preceded her in death on March 4, 1916.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Girard of Columbus Junction and Miss Eva Bretz, of Columbus City, with who she made her home; a grandson, William Girard, Columbus Junction; one brother, Lewis Cutkomp, of Columbus Junction; and two sisters, Mrs. Ben Cutkomp and Mrs. Ida M. Stark, both of Columbus city. Mrs. Bretz was a member of the United Brethren church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Columbus City Methodist church, with burial in the Columbus City cemetery.
