Bohemian Immigration

DOLEZAL, OR DOLAZAL, WAKEFIELD

My ancestor, Jasper Wakefield, was traveling from Colorado back home to Vermont when he stopped in the Cedar Rapids area to make some money in about 1857. He met his wife, Katarina (Katherine, Catherine, Kathryn, Katie, Kitty) Dolezal, a Bohemian immigrant at a hotel where they both worked. Katarina was from Prague, Bohemia, and arrived in the United States in about 1855, at the age of 21 years. She supposedly came without family. Jasper and Katarina were married by a Justice of the Peace in Linn County, Iowa, on August 19, 1861. I would love to have more provable information that they met and lived in Linn County.
