September 30, 1971 - The Anamosa Eureka

Mrs. Bessie J. Kula, Prairieburg, died Sunday, Sept. 26 at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, following a lingering illness. Services were held at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at St. Joseph's church, Prairieburg, with the Rev. Ivan Boyd officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. McNamara Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Born July 23, 1888 in Prairieburg, she was the daughter of George and Jane Brislawn Bebee. She attended the Prairieburg schools and was married Nov. 15, 1909 to Frank M. Kula at St. Joseph's church. The couple farmed in Linn county all their married life.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ray Crowley, Anamosa; Mrs. Walter Boren and Mrs. Wenton Goodlove, Central City; two sons, Charles, Prairieburg, and Dennis, Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Irvin, Monticello and Leo, Prairieburg, and a sister, Mrs. Edmond McGraw, Manchester.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.

Pallbearers were William Kula, Leo Holub, Daniel Fogarty, Bernard Kula, Raymond Kula and Clifford LaBarge.
