Funeral services for John Edwin Bales, 65, were held in Cedar Rapids Aug. 10. Mr. Bales, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids and a retired Link-Belt Speeder company employee, died Aug. 7 following a long illness.

Born in Cedar Rapids Nov. 14, 1904, he was married to Adelaide Hostler Feb. 238, 1941. He was a member of the Kenwood Park United Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Robert, Racine, Wis.; 2 daughters, Beverly and Mrs. Richard Olmstead, both of Cedar Rapids; 4 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Stow, Cedar Rapids.
