Sheryl Lynn Painter, 79, passed away Monday May 9, 2022, at the Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon. Per Sheryl's wishes the body has been cremated. Memorial services for Sheryl L. Painter will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Service, of Mount Vernon, is caring for Sheryl and her family.

Sheryl is survived by three children, Richard Farrington and wife, Dianne of Springville, Iowa, Joy Seaton and husband, Kevin of Madison, WI, Christopher Ahart and Whitney Caligiuri of Charles City, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Ed Fritz and wife, Jeanne of Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Sheryl Lynn, was born September 10, 1942, in Monmouth, Illinois. She grew up in Monmouth where she attended and graduated from Monmouth High School. Sheryl later graduated from the Carl Sandberg College in Galesburg, Illinois.

Sheryl spent her working life in administration and human resources. Her work spanned time at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, as well as Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids. Sheryl also worked as a court reporter. She was an artistic person. Sheryl enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching and crafts. Sheryl was devoted to her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She experienced several memorable missions, particularly fond of her work in genealogy in Salt Lake City.

Sheryl was blessed with five children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Mildred Fritz, and Manuel E. (Connie) Painter; two daughters, Amy and Michele; and a brother, Mike.
