Daniel David Ator, 72, of Marseilles, Illinois, briefly a resident of Lisbon, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Lisbon. A party for Daniel will be held in Marseilles at a later date. Stewart Baxter Funeral and Memorial Services, Mount Vernon are assisting the family.

Survivors include his daughter, Theresa Walantus (Christopher) of Lisbon; three grandchildren, Sara Bowman (Benjamin) of Mississippi, Adam Walantus, Jessica Walantus, both of Lisbon; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jacob, Lucas, Noah; life-long friend and mate, Patricia Ator of Marion; two siblings, Lawrence Ator, of Ottawa, Illinois, Stephen Ator of Missouri; other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and too many cousins to count.

Daniel David Ator was born January 18, 1950, in Ottawa, Illinois, the son of Lawrence Sr. and Marjorie Heath Ator. Daniel grew up and lived his entire life in the Ottawa and Marseilles, Illinois area. He was united in marriage to Patricia Vajgrt, and the couple was blessed with a daughter, Theresa. They later divorced but remained life-long friends. Daniel drove truck independently throughout the entire continental United States. He was a human road-map that knew every by-way in the country. Daniel thoroughly loved driving truck. Daniel enjoyed singing karaoke and hanging out at P.J.’s in Marseilles. He was an avid darts player and enjoyed listening to 60’s and 70’s music. Daniel also loved watching John Wayne movies. Daniel had in the last month moved to Lisbon, Iowa to be close to his daughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Madelyn Salas.
