Louis Mason White, 83, a longtime Marion and Springville area farmer, died Tuesday in Beverly Manor Care Center, Iowa City, following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 16, 1903, at Central City and married Edith Schminkey on June 26, 1939, at Marion. Mr. White lived in Iowa City the past year. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1922-1926. A member of the First United Methodist Church, Marion, he was also a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 6 of Marion.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, a son [private]; a brother, Don of Haines City, Fla.; and a sister, Alice Hodgdon of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, by the Rev. Dick Watkins of the First United Methodist Church. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call at the chapel from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. A memorial fund has been established.
