Herman E. Wertz, 73, a former Cedar Rapids resident, died Tuesday in California where he had lived the las tfour years. He was born Oct. 30, 1897, at Tipton.
He was a bus driver for many years for the City Lines, retiring in 1965. He served with the U.S. army during the Mexican Border war.
Eastern Iowa survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles Beck, Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Sadie Thompson, Tipton.
Services are pending at the Cedar Memorial funeral home.
