Death of Mrs. George Cone
Mrs. George Cone died at an early hour Friday morning at the family residence, 999 Eleventh street. Over two months ago she suffered a stoke of paralysis and gradually grew weaker.
Sarah Elizabeth Vosburgh was born April 25, 1844 in Coxsackie, New York, but came to Iowa with her parents when ten years of age. In November, 1862, she was married to George Cone, the first white boy born in Linn County. One son, Siegel was born to this union, and he, with the husband, survive. There are also four grandchildren, Ray Cone, Chicago, Mrs. Bernard Boyle, Earl and Roy Cone, of this cit, who spent much of their childhood under the loving care of their grandmother. Other surviving relatives are one brother, Nathan, of Chillicothe, Mo., two nieces, Mrs. Even Preston and Miss Katherine Burroughs of this city and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Cone was a loyal friend and esteemed neighbor. Her interests were largely in her home, where she gave unstintingly of her strength.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church and burial was in Oak Shade cemetery.
