Passing of a Pioneer.
Mr. Earl Granger died at his home on north 10th street in this city yesterday morning. He was born in Bethel, Vermont, November 7th, 1836, and came to Marion in 1856 and has been a prominent citizen ever since. He was in business many years. He served on the city council and school board several terms. June 22, 1869, he married Clara Lockhart. She died June 24, 1870.
February 28, 1872, he married Eldora Krouse who survives him. His surviving children are Arthur, Margaret and Alfred. There were three other children now dead.
The funeral services will be held at the family residence Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and will be conducted by Rev. F.H. Saudnerson assisted by Rev. T.M. Evans of Clinton.
He was a stockholder and director in the Farmers and Merchants State Bank. He was the owner o fa large farm adjoining the city and a splendid home in the city. His life work is done--well done. His departure will be a great loss to the city.
