Mrs. Julia Rohrer Died Saturday After Extended Illness
Mrs. Julia E. Rohrer, of 1507 Fifth avenue, a resident of Marion for forty years, died Saturday shortly afternoon at the home of her daughter in Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. She was born in Kansas, December 26, 1879, the daughter of James A. and Jane Foreman Ankney, and was married May 7, 1897, at Central City to John F. Rohrer, moving to Marion shortly thereafter. Together with her husband, there is surviving a son, Clarence D., of Council Bluffs, and two daughters, Clara M. Radish of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. L. Deloras Shimerda, of Cedar Rapids, and one granddaughter, Eileen Raddish of Riverside; three brothers, Irvin W. Ankney of Morley; Grove C. Ankney and Lester Ankney of Anamosa; and two sisters, Mrs. Lucy F. Shoemaker of Baine, Minn., and Mrs. Isabelle Lela Payne of Central City.
Mrs. Rohrer held membership in the Robert Mitchell post, W.R.C., No. 126, and was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 from the Yocom chapel, with the Rev. C.V.R. De Jong, pastor of the Presbyterian church, in charge. Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
