Listed in March 6, 1897 Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette; Marion News: "The seven months' old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kalen died yesterday after a short illness. The funeral will be held from the family residence on East Eighth avenue at 2 p.m. tomorrow."

Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette; Marion News: The funeral of the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kalen was held from the family residence yesterday afternoon, the services being conducted by Elder J.A. Seaton.
