The Marion Weekly Sentinel Thursday November 17, 1870
DIED.
In Marion, November 11,[sic] 1870, Mrs. Harriet A. Crosby.
The deceased was a daughter of Jeremiah and Sarah Lord, and was born in Gorham, Maine, November 5th, 1833. In 1843 she removed with her father's family to Detroit, in the same State, where, on April 6, 1852, she was united in marriage with Mr. Manson H. Crosby. After her marriage she moved with her husband to Plymouth, and September 30, 1854, they arrived in Marion, Iowa, where she continued to reside until the time of her death. She was the second of sex children; three of whom, two sisters and a brother, still reside with their parents in Plymouth, Maine. The other two, her oldest sister and a brother, having preceded her to that country from whose bourn no traveler returns.
She had been a long and patient sufferer. For several months her physicians had but little hope of her recovery. For weeks she had been expecting death, and had given directions in regard to her own family affairs and her own funeral. Yet, in such an hour as she thought not, while conversing with her husband, she suddenly expired.
She has left a husband, three children and many friends, to mourn her loss. As a neighbor, a wife, and a mother, she will be tenderly remembered.
Her funeral services were conducted by Rev. Alexander Marshall, at the family residence on the 12th, and were attended by a large number of sympathizing friends.
