The Marion Register Wednesday October 14, 1868
DIED
In Marion, Iowa, October 10, 1868, Miss LAURA A. daughter of Lysander and Mary Jones, aged 15 years.
Of Laura it may be safely said that she was a lovely young lady, possessed of an amiable disposition. She readily won the hearts of all that knew her.--The crowd that followed her remains to the grave spoke in language not to be misunderstood that she had many friends. During the progress of a very interesting work of grace in Marion last winter, she gave her heart to the Saviour, and soon after united with the Presbyterian church, of which her parents were members and remained a worthy member until her death. She gave the clearest possible evidence of sound conversion to God, and in conversation with the writer of this notice, a few weeks prior to her death, she said she "loved the Saviour, and had a clear evidence of her acceptance with Him," and there is not a doubt in the minds of those who knew her best that LAURA has gone to dwell with Jesus.
May the Lord bless and comfort her dear parents in this hour of deep affliction, and give them grace in the future, as int he past, to train those children still spared to them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord; and may the family, at last, make up an unbroken company in the Kingdom of their Divine Master.
"It is not death to die,
To leave this weary road,
And 'mid the Brotherhood on high
To be at home with God."
