MRS. MARY E. BROMWELL
Hundreds of Marion friends were shocked beyond expression, early Monday morning when they heard that Mrs. Mary E. Bromwell had passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Addie Shumack, at 7 o'clock. She had been ill but a few days. Her age was four score and four years. A native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but since 1853 her home was first in Marion twp and later in Marion City. Her maiden name was Mary E. Bonnell. She was married to James E. Bromwell, sr, in October 1856. Her husband died in 1900. Two children, James E. Bromwell, jr, and Mrs. Addie Bromwell Shumack, survive. Since her husband's death she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Shumack who is commended by all for her loyalty and faithful, tireless ministrations. The funeral services will be held in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J.A. Northup, assisted by Revs. S.R. Beatty and J. B. Jones, Wednesday, at 2:30 p.m. Her life was benediction, her passing like the setting of the Sun in a cloudless summer evening.
