Catherine S. Rauscher

Catherine S. Rauscher passed away from a brief illness on Monday, August 25, 2014, at Bergan Mercy hospital in Omaha, NE.

Kate was born June 14th, 1944, in Fort Madison.

Kate and her family spent part of her childhood in Oklahoma before moving to Omaha, NE where her father, The Rt. Rev. Russell T. Rauscher was the Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Nebraska. Kate graduated from Brownell-Talbot High School located in Omaha, NE and attended Iowa Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Kate was selected as one of the Ak-Sar-Ben Coronation Ball Princesses and participated in the annual pageant while in college.

She was a long standing member of the All Saints Episcopal Church located in Omaha, NE, and worked for the Omaha, Public Schools (OPS) for 36 years beginning in 1978. She started her OPS career as a secretary at Tech High School (now OPS Teacher, Administrative, Center and Career Center) and spent the majority of her career in Career Education supporting staff and teachers. She developed many friendships during her work as Secretary, President-Elect and President of the Omaha Education Office Professional Association. She will be missed by many.

Kate's love for dogs, evolved into adopting numerous dogs that no one else wanted and provided them with a loving home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, The Rt. Rev. Russell T. Rauscher and Marjorie Rauscher.

A celebration of Kate's life is being planned for Saturday, September 6th, 9:00 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 9302 Blondo Street, Omaha, NE 68134.

Memorials may be sent to the Omaha Humane Society.
