Casper Swinderman died at his home in Charleston, 12 January. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri and as a child, moved with his parents to LaSalle Co. Illinois. Came to Iowa in 1870 and located at Sandusky. In 1877, he moved to Charleston Twp. He married Amanda McChord in 1875, a native of Lee Co. She survives as well as the following children, Lawrence J., William, Walter, Frank, and Edward of Charleston, Joseph and Charles of Carthage, S. D. and Mrs. Sim Griswold and Mrs. Harry Pezley of Ft. Madison, 26 grandchildren, two brothers, Wm. of Maryville, Kansas, George of Boise, Id., Mrs. John Smith of Bellingham, Wa.  Buried in the Charleston cemetery in a metallic vault.
