Vera Elaine Hamman, 85, of Elm View Care Center, formerly of 1919 Barrett St., Burlington, died at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, 1995, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born Sept. 13, 1909, in Revere, Mo., she was the daughter of Willis and Nettie Wells. On Sept. 8, 1934, she married Harvey Harlan Hamman in Burlington.

Mrs. Hamman was a graduate of Revere High School in Revere, Mo. She worked at a restaurant in Fort Madison where she and her husband had met, then worked at the IAAP from 1940-1945 and then again from 1953-1954. In 1955, she worked for a clean towel service and later took care of her mother.

She was a Blackhawk Booster Club member and an avid Burlington Bees baseball fan, holding season tickets since 1947.

Survivors include her husband; one sister, Harriet Carpenter of Lee Summit, Mo.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and four half brothers.

Friends may call after 8 a.m. today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Hamman will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Traverce Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to Alzheimer's.
