Sue Philp

Sue Philp, 59, of Farmington, and formerly of Loveland, Colorado, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at home in Farmington.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, with the Rev. Goldie Laymon officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk.

Visitation opens at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Loveland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Keokuk Animal Shelter, PAWS Animal Shelter of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Philp was born July 2, 1954, in Fairfield, the daughter of Raymond Chalice and Dorothy Mae Mitchell Brown. She married Doug Philp July 6, 1974, in Keokuk.

She was a graduate of Keokuk High School and furthered her education to become a medical assistant.

She worked for the past 14 years at US Reports in Loveland.

She was a member of the Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club and volunteered for the Hearts and Horses of Colorado.

She enjoyed cross stitching, quilting, horseback riding, flower gardening, doing home improvement projects and rescuing many Scottish Terriers.

Survivors include her husband Doug of Farmington; two sisters, Fran Freeman of Washington, Illinois, and Mary Schneider of Keokuk; and three brothers, Ray Brown of Wellman, Carl Brown of Phoenix, Arizona, and Orville Brown of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
