Mississippi Claims Three Men When
Launch Goes Under in
Treacherous Waters
____

FT. MADISON, May 10. - Three men are known to have drowned and a fourth may have shared the same fate when a launch went under in the Mississippi just in front of the city late Friday afternoon. The known dead are:

FRED MILLMEYER,
JAMES McDONALD,
LOUIS IVAN.

The possibility of a fourth man having gone to the bottom rests on the fact that survivors of the disaster differ on the number of men in the ill-fated launch, it is definitely known that there were eleven men at least in the launch and several persons affirm that there were twelve.

Of the men drowned, but one body has been recovered. It is that of Louis Ivan, an Austrian. The man was caught someway by the feet in some rope on the launch and when the boat was found floating upside down he was hanging under it. Efforts at resuscitation proved futile Ivan was but recently come to this country in company with two brothers, each of whom survived the disaster.
