Fort Madison, Iowa
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 1899

John C. Scott and Miss Allie Stephens, of Montrose, were married at the Andrews hotel in Keokuk Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Stephens, of Montrose. The groom is well known in Fort Madison.

The Montrose Journal says of them;
He is the genial landlord of Hotel Montrose, and has contributed his full share toward the prosperity of the town during his residence here. He is public spirited and ever ready to help push any enterprise to the front that bears evidence of being for the public good. The bride was born here and her acquaintance is co-extensive with the community. She is a comely young lady who has many graces of mind and body, who is admirably qualified to take up and intelligently perform the new and grave responsibilities that will devolve upon her. Their many friends join in wishing them bon voyage and express the wish that into the smooth current of their domestic joy no breaker will intruded itself.
