Freeman Tripp 1870

TRIPP

I am looking for additional information on Freeman Tripp who is listed in the 1870 census as living in Kossuth County, Iowa with his wife "Susie" and a niece "Alma.". His occupation is given as "auctioneer."

He wasn't in Kossuth County for very long--in 1868 he was married in Pierce County, Wisconsin and by 1874 he was back in Wisconsin.

I am particularly interested in the possibility that he may have been acting as a "fence" for his brother Samuel B. Tripp, a horse thief who was arrested in March 1870 and sentenced to five years in the state penitentiary at Fort Madison.

If the family attended church it would most likely have been Methodist.

Thanks for any information you can provide.
