P. M. BARSLOU DEAD.
Aged Bancroft Attorney Died Suddenly
Tuesday Morning.—Suffered a
Stroke.—Was About Town Monday.
P. M. Barslou old and respected citizen of Bancroft, died suddenly yesterday morning at his home in that city. Mr. Barslou was well known throughout the county and was its oldest attorney. He had been in poor health for several years. Monday, he was in his usual health and walked up town after his mail. Tuesday morning he suffered a stroke from which he did not rally and passed away soon after.

Peter M. Barslou was born near Montreal, Canada, August 18, 1836, and was in his 86th year at the time of his death. There he learned the blacksmith trade and when about 19 years of age he came to the United States. He settled at Wauseka, Illinois, later moving to O'Dell where he conducted a blacksmith shop. During his odd moments he studied law. He was also deputy sheriff of Livingston county for a time. In 1874 he came to Kossuth county, living on a farm in Portland township for three years,
He then moved to Hurt where he conducted a blacksmith shop for several years when in 1896 he moved to Bancroft. He had continued to read law and about that time was admitted to the bar. Mr. Barslou was married to Laura A. Posgate of Newark, Illinois, October 20, 1860. He leaves the aged widow, who is in very poor health, and six children: Frank.Dell, a farmer near
Swea City; Mrs. Belle Fleming, Mrs. May Smith, Mrs. Anna Johnston and Mrs Irma Fisher, Mrs. Edith Arthur.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at Bancroft.
[Mr. Barslou was a Civil War Veteran who served in Co. G, 129th Illinois Infantry]
