RESPECTED LU VERNE WOMAN
PASSED AWAY THURSDAY.

Special from LuVerne: Mrs. Elizabeth Burtis, nee Blattie, was born in Sylvester township, Green county, Wis. At six years of age, she came with her parents to Lake township, Humboldt county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood.

At the age of 28 years she was united in marriage to Balus F. Burtis on the 16th day of March, 1882, at Humboldt, Iowa. To this union were born seven children, two girls and five boys, all living, who with their bereaved father mourn the loss of a loving mother and a faithful wife.

The children are: Mrs. Gertrude Rosehora of Athal, Idaho; Austin, Mrs. Cecil Wermerson; George, Harold, Carrol and Kelsie, all of LuVerne, Iowa.

Mrs. Burtis was a most patient sufferer and had endured more than her share of pain without a murmur. She was prepared to meet her God and was only anxious to be called to a realm of peace.

The deceased was born April 27, 1859, and went to rest June 6, 1918, at her home in LuVerne, Iowa at the age of 59 years, one month and ten days. Beside the seven children and husband, she leaves to mourn her demise two sisters, two brothers and seven grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the home and from the Methodist Episcopal church at two o’clock Saturday afternoon by Rev. J. H. Edge. Interment was made in the LuVerne cemetery.
