C.S. Coffin, Burt, who died Monday at the St. Ann Hospital, following a stroke reported last week, was a brother-in-law of Barber Merrifield, Algona, whose sister is Mrs. Coffin. The Merrifields formerly lived at Bancroft.
Mr. Coffin's first name, Clark, was also that of his father, a well known Burt figure 50 years ago. The children in the parental family were then active among the young people of the community. Clark Jr. would have been 74 had he lived till March 29.
The brother George now lives at San Diego, Calif. The late Mrs. W. E. McDonald, and the late Mrs. Harry McMurray, Algona, were sisters of the brothers. A brother Zell and a sister, Mrs. Artie Graham, died many years ago, also another sister, Mrs. Abe Connally, whose husband, after her death, lived alone for some years on So. Phillips street here.
Barber Merrifield will close his shop for the afternoon today and with his wife will attend the funeral at the Burt Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with interment at Bancroft. Supervisor and Mrs. Sherwood McDonald will also attend, and the Coffin children, two sons from Milwaukee, and Mrs. Robert Hamilton, north of Burt, will be in attendance.
