Evans Carmean, 39, Druggist At Bancroft, Dies.
BANCROFT -- Funeral services were to be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Baptist church for Evans Carmean, Bancroft druggist, Rev. Richard Thomas officiating.

Mr. Carmean died early Saturday morning at St. Ann hospital, Algona, suffering from a heart ailment. He had been hospitalized from time to time for the past six months.

J. Evans Carmean was born Oct. 1, 1912, at Leon, Iowa. He first came to Bancroft when a small boy, and was a graduate of Bancroft public schools. After graduating from a school of pharmacy at Des Moines, he returned here to go into business with his father, the late George Carmean.

After the death of his father eight years ago, Evans and his brother took over the business.

He was married to Frances Mason, 16 years ago at Bancroft.

Besides his widow, he leaves four small children, Kay Frances, freshman at Swea City high school; Jimmy, 11; Johnny, 7; Craig, 4; and his mother, Mrs. Jessie Carmean; two sisters, Jeanette, Mrs. Earl Elliot, and Georgia, Mrs. Henry Tolchomb, both of Rockford, Ill.

Pallbearers at the funeral will be Dr. Charles Kirsch, Omaha, Nebr.; Henry Tolchomb, Earl Elliot, both of Rockford, Ill.; Wayne Mason, Austin, Minn.; Charles Quinn and Dr. R. E. Weber. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, beside his father. Fuchs Funeral home is in charge.
