Reva Mae (Work) Tokheim, the daughter of Harley and Emma (Standerfer) Work was born on July 8, 1929, in rural Swea City, Iowa. She died on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Accura Healthcare of Bancroft, Iowa at the age of 91 years.

She received her education at Grant Consolidated School, graduating in 1946. She continued her education at business school in Mankato, Minnesota.

On October 10, 1947 Reva was united in marriage to Virgil Tokheim in Riceville, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple raised their family and farmed in the Swea City area until they retired. Reva was a true farmer’s wife, helping in the field when needed and preparing countless meals and lunches for those working on the farm. She was a great seamstress, sewing nearly all the family’s clothing for many years as well as creating drapes and curtains and recovering furniture for their home. She loved cooking and sewing for her family, and she was always ready to go for a ride with Virgil and visit friends. Reva and Virgil enjoyed traveling during their retirement, but Reva was happiest at home with her family around her.

Reva was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Swea City and was a long time member of UMW.

Left to cherish Reva's memory are her children, Tom (Ivon) Tokheim of Swea City, Iowa; Dave (Joy) Tokheim of Osceola, Iowa; Kathy (Phil) Stallone of Huntley, Illinois; Steve (Robin) Tokheim of Fairmont, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and her sister Fern (Robert) Johnson, of Snowflake, Arizona.

Reva is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil, her brothers Orval, Harvey, and Harold Work, and her sister Opal Richard.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Swea City with interment at Harrison Township Cemetery at Swea City.
