Steven Howard Bruhn was born on March 25, 1956 to Howard and Sandra (Theesfield) at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Fairville. Steve attended Sental/Fenton schools, graduating in 1974. After graduation, he began working for Bruhn Builders in Fenton, Iowa. Soon after, he met and married the love of his life, Susan Walker on December 3, 1976 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona, Iowa. They began their marriage farming West of Fenton and continued until his death. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Sheila (Chad) Stevensen, and Sally (Kris) Milligan along with four grandchildren: Max and Charlee Milligan and Sean and Nick Stevensen.

Steve held many offices and duties at St. Luke's Lutheran as Trustee, Elder, and Board of Human Care. Steve had a deep love of family and togetherness- as well as friendships made through neighbors, motorcycling, trips to Arizona, talking on the phone, his infectious smiles and laughter, hugs, and the lollipops he gave to all the kids.

Steve left this life on April 8, 2021 at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City, due to complications of Covid-19. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Sue of 44 years, daughters: Sheila (Chad) Stevensen, Sally (Kris) Milligan; Grandchildren: Max, Charlee, Sean, and Nicholas; Siblings: Vickie (Steve) Gangestad, Cheryl (Steve) Gerry, Kevin (Neola) Bruhn and Myron (Judi) Bruhn; Sister in laws: Diane Fritz and Betty (Merle) Ricklefs; Brother in laws: Denny Walker and Mike Walker along with numerous nieces and nephews who he was very special to.

He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Sandra Bruhn, Mother in law Madelia Johannson, Brother in law Dennis Fritz, and his grandparents.

The entire family of Steve Bruhn would like to thank you all for your love and support throughout this entire process. Rather than the traditional wake, Mom would love an in person visit with you where she can reminisce about the legacy Steve left behind in the days and months following the funeral. So many stories to be shared! He has surely impacted the lives of all he came in contact with and for that, we are eternally grateful. Steve was one of the good ones and he is now watching over us, giving us comfort that he is ok and we will be too. Like he always said, God is good ALL THE TIME, ALL THE TIME, GOD is GOOD!

A private family service was held Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Fairville, Iowa with interment at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Fairville, Iowa.
