Phyllis Ann Link, the daughter of William and Ruth (Naugle) Gies was born on June 3, 1930 in Algona, Iowa. Phyllis died Thursday, November 12th, 2020 at Accura Healthcare in Bancroft, Iowa at the age of 90.

Phyllis attended South Maple Grove School in Humboldt, Iowa and later attended Humboldt High School until their family moved to Swea City, Iowa in 1948. She then attended Grant High School where she met the love of her life, Eldon and they later married on January 15, 1950.

After their marriage the couple farmed together in rural Swea City and raised chickens and sold eggs for many years. Phyllis loved to bake and eventually became quite talented at making special birthday cakes for family and friends. Her talent became noticed and she was asked to work at Montgomery’s Bakery in Swea City for a short time and still managed to help Eldie on the farm.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, ABW ministries, the lady’s guild, church treasurer and taught Sunday School for many years. She had a strong faith and loved the Lord and was always willing and eager to share it with others. If you needed a prayer warrior, she was the one to pray with.

Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends, watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.

Left to cherish Phyllis’ memory is her daughter, Joyce (Bill) Walstead, Swea City; 3 grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Rutter of Spencer,Iowa, Jeff (Hayley) Walstead of Amrstrong, Iowa and Michael (Mara) Walstead of Swea City; 4 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Avery, Jessa and William; daughter-in-law, Lori Link of Spencer; brother, Bill (Alice) Gies from Fairmont, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Link; her son Dale Link, her parents, William and Ruth (Naugle) Gies, Father and Mother-in-law, Ervin and Lora (Dot) Link.

Due to Covid restrictions, no public visitation was held. Private family service was held and interment was at Harrison Township Cemetery, Swea City.
