Pfc. Albert Voigt Saw Action in Six Battles

Algona—Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voigt, Burt, whose 4 sons were in the service, received notice this week that their son, Pfc. Albert Voigt, was killed in action in France, Oct. 23.

He was in the Normandy invasion in June and since had been in 6 major battles, having received medals for each.

He enlisted April 2, 1942, and went overseas March 13, 1944. He was in an anti-tank company. He was born at Apache, Okla., July 28, 1912, came to Kossuth county in 1927, was graduated from Whittemore high school in 1933, then moved to Burt.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Merwyn Cunningham, Burt; his parents and 3 brothers, Pfc. Martin Voigt, Cpl. Robert Voigt in air service overseas, and Pvt. William Voigt with a medical division stationed at Camp Ellis, Ill.

Memorial services will be held later, pending receipt of a letter from overseas.

GIVES LIFE --Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voight of Burt received a telegram from the war department stating their 2nd son, Pfc. Albert G. Voight, was killed in action in France Oct. 23. He was 32 years old and took part in 6 major battles since D-Day.

Eighty men from Kossuth county lost their lives while in the service of their country in World War II.
