BANCROFT SOLDIER KILLED ON LUZON ISLAND APRIL 19TH

According to word received from the War Department on Wednesday, May 2, by Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Murray, of Bancroft, their son, Pvt. Thos. Murray, was killed on Luzon Island, of the Philippines, on April 19th. The message gave no details but stated that a letter would follow.

Pvt. Murray had been in the service since July 26, 1944, and was a visitor at home last Christmas. About the first of they year he was assigned to duty in the Philippines and had taken part in at least one major engagement since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Murray have two other sons in the service, Lt. (jg) Joseph Murray in the Navy and Pfc. Donald Murray, located on the east coast. Two sons, John and James, are at home, and a sister, Mrs. Eileen Kelly also survives her brother.
