Biography reproduced from page 411 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:

Claud Xavier Nicoulin, who is successfully engaged in the real-estate business at Algona, owns about nine hundred acres in the state of Iowa and deals in Kossuth county land as well as city property. He was born in Algona, Iowa, on the 6th of February, 1876, and is a son of Frank Nicoulin, deceased. He obtained his early education in his native city and was graduated from the Algona high school with the class of 1895. Subsequently he devoted two years to the study of law in the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis. He was afterward engaged in the real-estate business in Minnesota, in association with his father, and in 1900 removed to Harlan, Iowa, where he conducted a hardware store until 1904. In that year he took up his abode on a farm a mile and a half south of Algona, continuing to reside thereon until 1907, when he returned to Algona to assume the duties of county recorder, to which position he has been elected as the candidate of the republican party. He held that office until 1911 and made a most creditable record as a capable and trustworthy public official. At the present time he is engaged in the real-estate business, dealing in Kossuth county land and city property and also making loans on farm lands. As above stated, he owns about nine hundred acres in the state of Iowa, and his undertakings as a real-estate dealer have been attended with gratifying success.

In 1904 Mr. Nicoulin was united in marriage to Miss Lou Earle, a native of Adams county, Illinois. His religious faith is that of the Episcopal church, while fraternally he is identified with the Masons, the Modern Woodmen of America and the Yeomen at Algona and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks at Atlantic, Iowa. In business he is progressive and practical, in public life has been capable and faithful, and in social relations has manifested those sterling traits of character which have everywhere won him high regard.
