I have been tracing the Winchell. Erastus Winchell
son's wife is a niece of my great grandmother.
Erastus was married May 8,1866 to Mary O'Callaghan.
They had a son Joseph born Feb. 23,1867 he married
Mary Callaghan on June 24,1890. Joe was killed by
a train on Aug.18,1912. He was working on the train
bridge in Dubuque county Iowa.Erastus and Mary had
a daughter Frances born Feb.16,1868. She was mar-
red Oct.23,1895 in Scott county Iowa to John W.
Johnson.They lived for a while in Henry county,Ill.
They moved out to Phelps county Neb. in about 1902.They had 6 sons and 1 daughter. Frances died
there on Oct.27,1951. Her husband John born Sept.
19,1867 in Sweden. He died in Phelps county on
Mar.15,1945.Erastus and Mary separated in about
1870. He moved out to Summer county Kansas. He got
marred again out there. He died there on Oct. 31,
1885. Mary lived with her children at her parent's
farm in Jones county Iowa.She died there on Aug.
17,1881. I found Joe and Frances living with their
grandmother on 1885 census in Jones county Iowa.
