SHERMAN - two families?

Another puzzle in our tree is the Sherman line.

I noticed that there were what appears to be 2 different Sherman families living at the same time in the Olin area and wonder how they link?

One being Joshua Sherman (1804-1851) and the other being the family of Eleazer Sherman (1804/1811-1853).

Both were born in New York, both married there, Eleazer died in Illinois and his wife Nancy Arnold Sherman brough the kids to Jones County in 1855. I have seen two different birth dates for Eleazer - 1804 and 1811. Joshua died in Jones county.

Can someone make sense of these Sherman families? Thanks.
