Monticello

Mary Wink, 78, died Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Pinicon Place, Anamosa, following an extended illness, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Dave Raemisch will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. For everyone's protection, unvaccinated friends and relatives must wear a mask to enter the funeral home or the church.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, Ron; five children, Rick (Michelle) Cedar Rapids, Mike (Pam), Greg (Angie), Brian (Tina), all of Monticello, and Cindy (Leighton) Cady, Marion; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Sharon (Larry) Ditch, Bertram; and a brother, Robert (Karen) Wennekamp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Judy (Leonard) Siepker; mother and father-in-law, Doris and Dale Wink, brother-in-laws, Jim and Chuck Wink; and a niece, Kathy Wink.

Mary Jean Wennekamp was born Nov. 22, 1942, on a farm in Jones County, Iowa, near Hale. She was the daughter of John and Augusta Martensen, Wennekamp. Mary graduated from the Martelle High School in 1961. Mary and Ron Wink were married March 25, 1962. After her children were older Mary worked at Minntex seasonally. For 23 years she was the secretary at St. Matthew Lutheran Church retiring in 2012.

Mary enjoyed going to auctions with Ron, bus trips, traveling, baking, gardening, quilting and square dancing. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family.
